electro acoustic composition arranged for multi-channel performance
Just after sunset, 300,000 bats and swifts cross paths at the mouth of the Ban Tham Lot caves in Soppong, a Shai village on the northern border of Thailand. The work is structured around a single recording taken in this space, and fleshed out with other accidental/incidental recordings made whilst walking / of a lover sleep-talking.
At the time, I was interested in Tao and the recognition of Quality in a non-thinking process; ideas drawn from Robert M. Pirsig's 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintainance' and the Tao Te Ching.
Premiered as part of the Mandurah Fringe Festival (2016).
